Corinthia San Gorg Hotel - St. Georges Bay
Corinthia Marina Hotel
- St. Georges Bay
Corinthia
Palace Hotel - Attard
There was a narrow finger of land rising vertically from the shores of the blue
waters of St George’s Bay. By all intents and purposes, from a civil works
and architectural point of view, it was a near impossible piece of land on which
to build a 200 bedroom hotel.
Enters Mr Alfred Pisani, a well known local entrepreneur
and the Chairman of a flourishing international
hotel group who is a visionary with a will.
Unlike King Canute, the Chairman possessed the pragmatism
to gather those with the knowledge of how to stop the
tides by constructing a 200 metre sea wall, the first
of such magnitude and complexity in Malta that would
turn the land into a prime building site for a multi-million
Liri resort complex. Thus rises Corinthia
Marina Hotel from the water’s edge,
the newest and perhaps the most progressive hotel design
to come under the Corinthia
Hotels International banner in Malta.
The Corinthia
Marina Hotel, as beautifully designed
and appointed hotel as it is,
constitutes a much larger and more exciting concept.
It is the last component to complete the greater
vision of the Corinthia Beach Resort, the
first complex of its size and scope dedicated to
dining and entertainment in Malta.
A major portion of the water’s edge of St George’s
Bay has now been transformed into a gastronomic hub
and hive of entertainment stretching along the shoreline
in front of the five
star Corinthia San Gorg and the new Corinthia
Marina Hotel. A wide range of unique dining
experiences are on offer at thirteen different food
and beverage outlets, live entertainment at Duke’s
Nightclub plus three outdoor pools, an indoor pool
and a huge Beach Lido stretching the length of the
shoreline complete with four sundecks, amphitheatre,
water facilities and its own food outlets to round
off the innovative concept. Not to be overlooked: 300
underground spots for cars to ensure parking is never
a problem at one of Malta’s prime destinations.
Customers will be spoilt for choice from formal dining
at the Marina’s Bayview Restaurant or the San
Gorg’s Fra Martino to al fresco and a la carte
eating, including a taste of Spain at malta’s
first tapas bar, Tapa Tapa and wine and cheese from
around the world at the French themed Vinotheque Bar.
The lure of live entertainment, whether year round
at Duke’s Nightclub or staged productions by
animators and beach parties in a Lido disco during
the warm months, is certain to make the Corinthia
Beach Resort Malta’s most ‘happening
place’
from dawn till the wee hours of the morning.
The new Corinthia
Marina Hotel at the heart of this
new complex is thoroughly modern and minimalist
in design, a concept very much in vogue internationally
amongst leading design masters. For many, the term
minimalist could conjure up a cool functionality,
but designer Martin Xuereb has translated the modern
into understated elegance through the use of curved
architectural spaces that are bathed in light and
further defined by warm smooth surfaces and vibrant
Mediterranean colours. Passing through the portals
of the new Corinthia Marina is
akin to boarding a modern luxury liner. Every aspect
of design capitalises on the nearness of the sea,
either by ensuring external views of the sea are
shapes and details. From the main public area with
seating, Lobby Bar and main restaurant through
to every one of the 200 guest rooms, picture perfect
views of the sea dominate. Similar to a ship’s
deck, a 61 metre terrace facing the sea runs parallel
to the hotel’s lobby bar and restaurant for
al fresco eating or simply soaking up the pleasures
of sun and sea.
The Corinthia Beach Resort with the Corinthia
Marina Hotel as its new flagship,
is poised to become a magnate and mecca for locals
and tourists looking for a great time, superior
quality and a wide and varied choice of things
to do. Quite simply, the Corinthia Beach
Resort offers everything under the sun.
