MAASTRICHT DOCTORATE FOR CORINTHIA EXECUTIVE 27/03/2007

27/3/2007

27th March 2007 - Vanessa Borg, head of the Research and Development Unit at Corinthia Hotels International (CHI), has recently returned from Maastricht in the Netherlands, where she obtained her doctorate in business administration from the Maastricht School of Management. Dr Borg successfully presented her thesis on "Stewardship drive for performance optimisation in the hospitality industry".
At CHI, Dr Borg has been involved in promoting the importance of the development of human resources, playing a key role in integrating people with company policies and culture. She has also written several papers relating to performance optimisation and stewardship drive.
In her Maastricht dissertation, Dr Borg gave a clear direction as to the behaviours that are to be nurtured when aligning employee effort to organisational goals. She broadens the definition of ‘stewardship’ and positions it as a leading discipline for any manager who wants to add value to an organisation. She also offers an insight on how to drive organisational resources towards optimum financial outcomes.
In achieving her aims, Vanessa Borg had the full backing and assistance of the CHI board.
