RENOWNED HOTELIER JOINS CORINTHIA HOTELS INTERNATIONAL BOARD 11/08/2005

11TH august 2005 – Malta-based Corinthia Hotels International announced the appointment of Mr Christian G Windfuhr as an executive board director of the Company. Mr Windfuhr is a seasoned international hotelier with experience in Europe, USA, South Africa, Middle East, Far East, Australia and New Zealand. Until recently, he was CEO of MARITIM Hotels, one of the major players in the German hotel market.

Welcoming Mr Windfuhr to Corinthia Hotels, company chairman Mr Karmenu Vella said, “With his vast experience and international insight of upscale hotel operations, Christian Windfuhr will add a new dimension to CHI’s operative. He is well positioned to provide us with the necessary support, advice and consultation to help us achieve our objectives of further expanding the chain, while maintaining the very high standards that the Corinthia name has become synonymous with in the tourism industry Internationally”.

Mr Windfuhr has had a very distinguished international career. His top positions include those of vice president operations and development with Holiday Inn International in Middle East and Asia, a board member of TUI, heading up their hotel activities, at the time consisting of 5 vacation hotel companies mostly in Mediterranean destinations, president and CEO of Mövenpick Hotels and Resorts, and finally CEO of Maritim Hotels with 44 hotels.

Commenting on his appointment Mr Windfuhr stated “Throughout my long career I have always striven to achieve excellence in all the operations I was involved in, while at the same time ensuring their steady growth and profitability. I feel that in many ways this mirrors perfectly CHI’s goals and I am therefore extremely happy to have the opportunity of repeating my previous endeavours with a company that offers not just upscale hotels, but also an added ‘Warmth, Colour and Vitality’ experience that undoubtedly stems from its Mediterranean roots.”

Corinthia Hotels International operates 20 four and five-star city and resort hotels in Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Libya, Malta, Portugal, Russia, The Gambia, Togo, Tunisia and Turkey.
